Get them while they're hot knuckleheads! Some tedious work went into setting this one for you all, I need a code monkey. Might be the reason why I started with the monkey pack first. We have the 1st and last in 5 color sets for variety. I wanted to mix it up.

The excuse to do them was that I had a class final project and I decided to kill two birds with one stone. I like giving people a reason to hit the blog up and I had free range at a project for school.

The monkey is more of an urban art type and the dark depth abstract is more for the cubicle worker. As for the type driven piece I wanted to do something for designer who wanted to see something visual with some corny motivational words to help grind through freelance/independent hustle.

I hope we like it.

Editorial Illustration

So I recently attended this AIGA portfolio review in San Francisco over the weekend. Very good encouragement I received from my reviewers. Notably the Williams brothers, Gary and Robert from Apple. They both reviewed my illustration work independently and came to the same conclusions or produced similar feedback. It was that I should should look into using some of the vexel stuff in in some sort of editorial layout work. I agreed and little did they know I already had a comp started.

Now most definitely this is just a start of what could be great for me if properly pursued. The journey is still a long way from being completed. But I felt it was so ironic that I would have this type of work started and then told to look into the practice by creative professionals within the same week.

Typography

Type. Oh how we love the different ways that negative space can be distributed into legible bits of information. I for one don't understand why something simple can be so complex. But I do appreciate the finer efforts of typographers, and support the hype of the Helvetica's while showing disapproval of the Comic Sans'. By all means, take a typography class. Find out why we don't distort and stay as far away from defaults as possible.
